Incarcerated individuals secure state job offers before leaving prison

Coming out of prison with a job offer is a huge step in the right direction when it comes to tackling recidivism. When people commit crimes after they are released, it's usually because they can’t get a job and therefore they cannot rebuild a stable life.



LA Californian State Prison in Solano recently hosted a hiring event where nearly two dozen incarcerated people got a conditional job offer. The $37 million dollar Prison to Employment Initiative, a reentry services integration across California’s 14 regions, aims to improve labor market outcomes for the state’s justice-involved and formerly incarcerated populations.


“This hiring event was successful thanks to multiple state agencies coming together to improve the lives of others,” said CALPIA Acting General Manager Bill Davidson. “CALPIA thrives through partnerships, and it is rewarding to see a smooth transition for those individuals who are about to leave prison.”
